PlagueIntel sets no cookies and loads no advertising, tracking or map services from third parties. Fonts and map data are served from our own server.
Hosting
The site runs on a virtual server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in its Falkenstein data centre, Germany, under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Delivering a page necessarily processes your IP address, time, requested URL, referrer and user agent (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Neither the application nor the reverse proxy keeps an access log; IP addresses can only appear in the proxy's error log, which is deleted weekly.
Statistics (Plausible Community Edition)
We use self-hosted Plausible Community Edition at analytics.kraaibeek.tech in Germany. It counts page views without cookies or persistent identifiers. A daily-rotating hash of IP address, user agent and domain counts unique visits for one day; IP address and user agent are not stored. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can opt out at any time:
Maps
All maps are drawn from public-domain Natural Earth data served by us. No map tiles are loaded from third parties.
If you email us, we process your address and message to reply (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The mailbox is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM, Friedersdorf, Germany, on our behalf.
Cookies and browser storage
We set no cookies. We write to your browser's local storage (localStorage) only when you act: your choice of light or dark theme when you use the switch in the header, and your opt-out from the statistics. These entries stay in your browser. They are never sent to us and are not used to recognise or track you. Choosing your operating system's theme again removes the theme entry, and you can clear both at any time in your browser settings. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, as storing the setting you explicitly chose is strictly necessary to keep it.
Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15-21 GDPR), and may complain to a supervisory authority, for us the State Commissioner for Data Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia (ldi.nrw.de). No automated decision-making takes place.
